The City Central Precinct is the biggest single urban redevelopment ever undertaken in the Adelaide CBD.
The scale of the development is designed to shift the focus of the Adelaide's CBD closer to Victoria Square where Colonel William Light, South Australia's first Surveyor General, originally intended for the city hub.
The Precinct encompasses almost an entire city block bounded by King William, Waymouth, Franklin and Bentham Streets. It represents the culmination of many years work by Aspen, securing and amalgamating a 1.7 hectare landmark site that is already transforming the Adelaide skyline and has set the benchmark for office accommodation.
Traditionally, property development has given little regard to environmental sustainability in building design, construction and operation. However, at City Central we are leading a change in the South Australian development industry that properly addresses the compelling environmental, economic and social benefits achievable from 'building green'.
And so, whether restoring or regenerating existing heritage structures or creating exciting new built forms, such as Tower 1 and Tower 2, development decisions at City Central will continue to be based on ecologically sustainable criteria, always looking to achieve the 5 Star Australian Excellence standard of the Green Building Council of Australia.
The 5 Star sustainable development standards adopted and being implemented across the Precinct represent a milestone achievement in Australia at such a scale. The Precinct will certainly attract interest nationally, if not globally, as it comes to life over the next few years.
The Aspen development team includes highly respected professionals with national and international sustainability credentials. Principal team members include Architects Woods Bagot, ESD & Services Engineers WSP (Lincolne Scott), Civil and Structures Engineers Connell Wagner, Quantity Surveyors Davis Langdon and constructors Baulderstone.
