The Electra House Entertainment Facility is a vital ingredient in the overall City Central Precinct development. Situated adjacent to Tower 2, currently under construction, it will reinforce the King William Street gateway into the Precinct for patrons, visitors, residents and workers.
The redevelopment will involve the adaptive reuse of the existing heritage building in combination with an integrated new glazed structure attached to the south side.
It is planned that the ground floor will provide an entry hall with a lobby offering access to the amenities and gaming lounge to the west and a typical 'pub' style bar and café style restaurant to the south. The café/bar zone will open out onto external terraced areas, creating an indoor/outdoor dining experience and serving as a meeting focal point for patrons from both King William Street and the central Plaza.
Level 1 is planned to function as a bistro/restaurant with á la carte service to the dining area within the heritage building and bistro style dining in the atrium building. A finishing kitchen, bar and servery counter will operate in dynamic relationship with between chef and patron, with the kitchen and bar both integral and visually open to the adjacent spaces.
Aspen will appoint an operator to set up and manage the various new facilities in the premises on its behalf. Aspen also owns gaming licences which will enable the operation of 24 gaming machines within a designated separate area of the establishment. During the final term of the initial trading period and subject to establishing and maintaining commercially sound operations, it is intended to offer the leasehold for sale under terms and conditions to be determined at the time.
Concept plans have been developed in consultation with Woods Bagot Architects. However, before construction commences, the operator will participate in final decisions regarding fit out, layout, style, menus and ambience.
At this stage construction of the new facility is scheduled to commence early in 2008 and be completed by Christmas 2008. Remedial works to the heritage structure are already underway.
